Odongdo's camellias start blooming in February and peak in March (per Yeosu City). Many people climb to Hyangiram for the New Year sunrise. Food seasons change through the year: oysters November–February, hairtail mostly caught July–November, and pike eel from mid-April to late October.
Airport to the city
Yeosu Airport (RSU) to the city by city bus
Yeosu Airport has routes to Gimpo and Jeju (per Korea Tourism Organization). A city bus from the airport takes about 20 minutes to Yeocheon Station, a KTX stop, and about 1 hour to the area near Yeosu EXPO Station. KTX (Seoul or Yongsan Station to Yeosu EXPO Station)
According to the train timetable published by Yeosu City, KTX trains run several times a day between Seoul/Yongsan stations and Yeosu EXPO Station. ITX-Saemaeul, ITX-Maeum and Mugunghwa trains also run. Check fares and seats with Korail.

Getting around
City buses
Adult fares are KRW 1,700 in cash or KRW 1,600 by transit card. Check routes and timetables at the Yeosu traffic information centre (its.yeosu.go.kr).
Buses to Hyangiram (111 and 111-1)
Buses 111 and 111-1 run from the Yeosu EXPO Station stop and the intercity bus terminal stop to the Impo (Hyangiram) stop; bus 116 also runs from the terminal. Each route has a fixed number of runs a day, so check departure times first.
Maritime cable car
Links Jasan Park (Haeya Platform) and Dolsan Park (Nora Platform) over the sea. A one-way ride takes about 13 minutes, handy for crossing from the Odongdo side to Dolsan.
Odongdo Dongbaek Train
A small train along the 768 m breakwater from the Odongdo entrance to the island; KRW 1,000 (free for ages 6 and under and 65 and over). Walking takes about 15 minutes.
City tour bus 'Yeosu Romantic Bus'
Several courses, including a Hyangiram course, a night-view course, a Yi Sun-sin course and double-decker buses. Check days, fares and booking on the Yeosu City tourism site.

Yi Sun-sin Square and Jongpo Marine Park (old town)
Good for: Night sea, food, walking
The heart of Yeosu, full of sights and local food. Jinnamgwan Hall and Goso-dong Mural Village are close by, and the seaside path is great for night views.
Odongdo and Jasan Park
Good for: Camellia forest walks, cable car
From the Odongdo entrance car park, Odongdo is about a 15-minute walk along the breakwater. The cable car's Jasan (Haeya) Platform is also at the Odongdo entrance side.
Dolsan
Good for: Night views, sunrise, grilled oysters and mustard leaf kimchi
An island linked to the mainland by Dolsan Bridge. See the night view from Dolsan Park and the sunrise from Hyangiram at the island's tip. Many grilled-oyster restaurants line the Dolsan coast.
An island in Hallyeohaesang National Park, named for its paulownia-leaf shape and home to about 3,000 camellia trees. A forest-tunnel trail of about 2.5 km circles it, with a lighthouse and a musical fountain. Free and open 24 hours.
A hermitage on the cliffs of Geumosan at the tip of Dolsan Island, one of Korea's four main prayer sites for the Bodhisattva of Compassion. It was named Hyangiram in 1715 for its beautiful sunrise. You climb steep stone steps and pass through rock gates. Check official info for any admission fee.
Yeosu Maritime Cable Car
Korea's first cable car over the sea, a 1.5 km line between Dolsan Park and Jasan Park, with glass-floored crystal cabins. Runs 09:30–21:30 (last tickets 21:00). Standard cabin adults KRW 17,000 round trip / 14,000 one way; crystal cabin adults KRW 24,000 / 19,000.
Jinnamgwan Hall (National Treasure)
A government guesthouse built in 1599 on the site of Jinhaeru, which Admiral Yi Sun-sin used as the headquarters of the Jeolla Left Naval Command. At 15 bays across and 5 deep, it is the largest surviving local government building of its kind. Visits have been limited during repair works, so check official info before you go.
Watch the sunset over Janggundo island from Yi Sun-sin Square, then walk about 1.5 km along the sea under Geobukseon Bridge to Jongpo Marine Park. Hamel Lighthouse, the cable car, Dolsan Bridge and Geobukseon Bridge are all in view.
Dolsan Park and Dolsan Bridge at night
Dolsan Bridge, a 450 m cable-stayed bridge completed in 1984, changes through about 50 colours of light at night. Look down on the bridge, Janggundo and the harbour from Dolsan Park above it.
Yeosu Expo site (Expo Ocean Park)
The site of the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, with a waterfront promenade, marine leisure programmes and the Big-O multimedia show. Fees vary by attraction.
Geomundo and Baekdo
Islands in Dadohaehaesang National Park. Geomundo has the Geomundo Lighthouse, the first lit on the south coast. Baekdo, a scenic site of 39 uninhabited islets, is seen on a roughly 40-minute boat tour from Geomundo; landing is not allowed. Check official info for ferry booking and sailings.
Yeosu's signature kimchi: sea-breeze-grown Dolsan mustard leaves mixed with chilli powder, garlic, ginger, anchovy sauce and fresh shrimp. Less sharp than other mustard leaf, with tender leaves.
Gejang baekban (marinated crab set meal)
A 'rice thief' meal with spicy-sweet seasoned crab, soy-marinated crab and doenjang-marinated crab.
Seodae-hoe muchim (raw sole salad)
Raw sole tossed with makgeolli vinegar fermented for over a year, chilli paste and vegetables; mix it into warm rice.
Galchi jorim (braised hairtail)
Hairtail simmered over radish with a spicy sauce. In Yeosu, hairtail is mostly caught from July to November.
Grilled eel and eel soup
Eel grilled with salt or with sauce, and ugeoji eel soup with dried radish greens and perilla powder, a Yeosu speciality.
Grilled oysters
Oysters, in season from November to February, grilled fresh. Many grilled-oyster restaurants line the Dolsan coast.

Day 1
Arrive at Yeosu EXPO Station → walk Odongdo's camellia forest → cable car to Dolsan Park → evening walk by the night sea at Yi Sun-sin Square and Jongpo Marine Park.
Day 2
Morning bus 111 or 111-1 to Hyangiram → mustard leaf kimchi and grilled oysters on Dolsan (November–February) → Jinnamgwan Hall (check it's open) and Goso-dong Mural Village in the afternoon → gejang baekban for dinner.
Day 3
Waterfront walk at the Yeosu Expo site → seodae-hoe muchim or galchi jorim for lunch → Yeosu EXPO Station or Yeosu Airport.
Local tips
Odongdo is about a 15-minute walk along the 768 m breakwater. The Dongbaek Train runs 09:30–17:00 (break 12:00–13:00).
The cable car takes no reservations; tickets are sold on the day only. Wheelchairs, strollers and suitcases are restricted in crystal cabins, and food and drinks are not allowed on board.
Buses 111 and 111-1 to Hyangiram have a fixed number of runs a day. Check the timetable before you set out.
Visits to Jinnamgwan Hall have been limited during repair works. Check official info before you go.
