March-May and September-November have pleasant daytime temperatures for walking. June-August is extremely hot at midday; December-February days are mild but nights are chilly.

RTC city buses link the airport with the Strip and Downtown; check routes and fares officially. Shared shuttles to hotels also run.
Connections via Los Angeles, San Francisco or other hubs are available. Check airlines for nonstop availability and schedules, and for connections compare total travel time and where you clear US immigration.
Walkways and bridges connect many hotels, but buildings are huge and distances longer than they look. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
Double-decker buses run 24 hours along the Strip to Downtown; buy tickets by app or at stops.
A monorail links hotels on the east side of the Strip. Stations are at the back of hotels, so check the walk.
Board at each hotel's designated pickup area; handy late at night or for Downtown.
Easiest for canyons and Hoover Dam. Desert roads have long gaps between gas stations; carry plenty of water in summer.
Good for: First visit, shows & fountains
The biggest cluster of hotels, theaters and free sights, great for walking.
Good for: Airport access, big resorts
Close to the airport with large resorts; a longish walk to Center Strip.
Good for: Budget stays, old Vegas feel
The historic center with an LED canopy show. Cheaper than the Strip, about 20-30 minutes by bus.
Good for: Road trips, value
Easy parking and lower rates; you'll need a car or taxi for the Strip.

Walk the Strip as the hotels light up after dark. Many hotels have free canals, gardens and displays inside.
Music-synchronized fountains dance on a lake in front of a major Strip hotel. Shows are frequent in the evening — check the schedule.
A Downtown street whose entire roof becomes an LED screen for evening shows.
An outdoor museum of old casino and shop neon signs. Guided tours may need booking.
Red sandstone canyon about 30 minutes from the city, with a scenic drive and short trails. Timed-entry reservations for the Scenic Drive are required during daytime hours from October to May — check official information.
The huge Colorado River dam, about 45 minutes to an hour by car. The bridge overlook shows the whole dam.
Fiery red sandstone landscapes about an hour away. Avoid midday hikes in summer.
The West Rim is about 2.5 hours by car, the South Rim about 4.5. The West Rim is on Hualapai tribal land, not in the national park, so entry works differently; for the South Rim, check official national park information. Tours, small planes and helicopter trips are common.
The classic Vegas meal; prices vary by day and time. About US$40-90 per person.
Plenty of steakhouses. About US$60-150+ per person.

American burgers and Mexican tacos make a cheap meal. About US$10-20.
The Chinatown area west of the Strip has many Korean and Asian restaurants; easiest by car.
