How many days for Da Lat? 3 to 4 days
Da Lat is a city in Vietnam's Central Highlands with cool weather all year, lakes, pine forests, flower gardens and French-era buildings. It feels completely different from the hot beach cities, so many travelers pair it with Nha Trang.
The guide suggests 3 to 4 days. Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat Market and the night market are walkable, while the waterfalls, temples and Langbiang Mountain are spread out, so a day tour or a car with driver is easiest for those.

- On foot: Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat Market, Da Lat Night Market
- By car: Truc Lam Monastery and cable car, Datanla Waterfall, Langbiang Mountain, Linh Phuoc Pagoda
- Also: Crazy House, Old Da Lat Railway Station
Airport to the city: shuttle bus, taxi or ride-hailing
Da Lat's airport is Lien Khuong Airport (DLI). It is about 30 km south of town, and the ride to the center takes about 40-50 min. Routes change by season, so check airline schedules.
From the airport, take the airport shuttle bus, a taxi or a ride-hailing car. Check shuttle and taxi fares at the airport or in the app (check official). With a ride-hailing app the fare is fixed in advance, so there's no haggling.
There are other ways in. Fly into Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport (CXR) and come over the mountains by bus or private car in about 3-4 hours; fares vary by operator. From Ho Chi Minh City, a connecting domestic flight takes about 1 hr and a long-distance bus about 6-8 hours. Mountain roads from Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City are winding, so bring motion-sickness tablets.

Getting around: ride-hailing, walking and tours
Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way around town and to nearby sights. App fares are fixed in advance, so there's no haggling.
Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat Market and the night market are walkable. It's hilly, so wear comfortable shoes. Waterfalls, temples and Langbiang Mountain are spread out; a day tour or a car with driver is easiest.
Motorbike rental is popular, but hills and wet roads make it risky. If you rent one, check license and insurance requirements.

A basic 4-day route
On day 1, head from the airport into town and walk around Xuan Huong Lake. It's the big lake in the middle of town, lovely at sunset, with cafes around the shore. In the evening, have banh trang nuong (about 20,000-40,000 dong) and hot soy milk (about 10,000-20,000 dong) at Da Lat Night Market. It gets cold at night, so wear a jacket.
On day 2, take the cable car over the pine forest to the lakeside Truc Lam Monastery in the morning. Be quiet and dress modestly at the temple. Then ride the alpine coaster on rails down to Datanla Waterfall. In the afternoon, explore Crazy House, a whimsical building shaped like a fairy-tale tree; entry is paid and the stairs are narrow. For dinner, have lau, a mushroom and vegetable hotpot, at about 100,000-200,000 dong per person when shared.
On day 3, go up to the Langbiang Mountain viewpoint by jeep or on foot for highland views; allow half a day. In the afternoon, see the Old Da Lat Railway Station, a French-era art deco building, and Linh Phuoc Pagoda, decorated with broken ceramics and glass (20-30 minutes by car from the center), then take a cafe break. On day 4, have banh mi xiu mai (about 20,000-40,000 dong) for breakfast, buy souvenirs such as dried fruit and coffee, then head to the airport or Nha Trang.

- Day 1: airport to town → Xuan Huong Lake walk → banh trang nuong and soy milk at Da Lat Night Market
- Day 2: Truc Lam Monastery and cable car → Datanla alpine coaster → Crazy House → lau for dinner
- Day 3: Langbiang Mountain viewpoint → Old Da Lat Railway Station and Linh Phuoc Pagoda → cafe
- Day 4: banh mi xiu mai breakfast → souvenirs (dried fruit, coffee) → the airport or Nha Trang
When to go? The December-March dry season is best
The December-March dry season is clear and cool, the best time to visit. The May-October wet season brings frequent afternoon rain.
Mornings and evenings are chilly year-round at this altitude, and it's cool at night even in summer, so pack a long-sleeved layer. Waterfall and mountain paths get slippery after rain; wear shoes with grip.

Where to stay, plus budget, payment and entry checks
For a first visit, the center around Da Lat Market and Xuan Huong Lake is the easy choice. It's close to the night market, restaurants and cafes and good for walking, but busy and a little noisy in the evening. For a quiet stay, look east of the lake near the old railway station; for forest retreats and views, the hillside resorts outside town fit, though you'll need a car to reach town.
Daily budgets per person: about 700,000-1,000,000 dong (guesthouse, street food, ride-hailing), about 1,500,000-2,500,000 dong (city hotel, restaurants, a day tour) and about 5,000,000 dong+ (resort, private car). Markets and small shops take cash (dong); check the zeros carefully when paying.
Vietnam's entry rules (visa-free stays, e-visas) can change. Check official Vietnamese government or embassy information before you travel.
