Guam over Seollal: what to check first
Seollal (Lunar New Year's Day) falls on Sunday 7 February 2027 (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute lunar calendar); check the government's official announcement for the holiday period. Our Guam guide suggests 4 to 5 days, so match your leave to the official holiday dates once they are announced.
Look at prices early, too. Our Guam guide notes: "Prices rise during Asian holidays and summer breaks." Flight and hotel bookings can fill up over the holiday, so check early. As a US territory, Guam has its own entry requirements (such as electronic travel authorization), and arrivals must complete the Guam Electronic Declaration Form (EDF), so check official US and Guam government sources before you go.
February weather in Guam and what to pack
Our Guam guide says the dry season from about December to May is sunny and comfortable. February normals are an average high of 30°C, a low of 24°C and 105mm of rain (NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), U.S. Climate Normals, Guam International Airport station, 1991–2020). Normals are multi-year averages, not this year's forecast, so check the weather forecast before you leave.
Even in February, daytime highs are around 30°C, so pack summer clothes. The guide notes the sun is intense: bring sunscreen, a hat and a rash guard, and drink water often. Coral and rocks are common, so water shoes help.
- January — average high 30°C, low 24°C, 136mm of rain
- February — average high 30°C, low 24°C, 105mm of rain
- March — average high 31°C, low 24°C, 70mm of rain
4-day plan, part 1: Days 1–2
Day 1: check in to a Tumon hotel, swim at Tumon Beach, then sunset at Two Lovers Point. Tumon is about 10–15 minutes from the airport, so arrival day still has room. Tumon Beach is a shallow, calm lagoon protected by the reef, great for kids; Two Lovers Point is a clifftop lookout with an entry fee, and sunset views are especially good.
Day 2: rental-car drive around the south coast (villages, fort ruins, lookouts), then Chamorro barbecue for dinner. Allow half a day to a full day for the drive. Chamorro barbecue is meat or chicken marinated in a soy-based sauce and grilled over charcoal, eaten with red rice.

4-day plan, part 2: Days 3–4, plus an extra day
Day 3: snorkeling at Ypao Beach Park, Plaza de España (Hagåtña) in the afternoon, and the Chamorro night market if it's on. The market is held weekly in Hagåtña, so check the day and hours locally. Day 4: malls and outlets, time at the hotel pool, then the airport; it's close by, but allow plenty of check-in time.
With a 5-day trip, add Ritidian Beach, a quiet beach at the island's northern tip. It's a protected area with set opening hours and occasional closures, so check official information, and stay out of the water when waves are high. A rental car is the easiest way to reach far beaches.

Getting around and budget
The Tumon beachfront hotel strip and main street are walkable. Tourist shuttle buses (trolleys) loop the Tumon hotel strip, malls and main sights; a single ride is about $3, and you should check pass types, routes and times locally. Some hotels and malls run free or low-cost shuttles, so ask at check-in; taxis are convenient for short trips but relatively expensive. Driving is on the right: bring your home licence and passport, and check with the rental company and official information on other requirements such as an International Driving Permit.
Our Guam guide's daily budgets per person (US dollars) are below. Guam has no sales tax, so the shelf price is often what you pay. Tipping is customary at restaurants and for taxis, so check whether a service charge is already on the bill.
- about $150-200 per day: budget hotel, food courts, shuttle bus
- about $300-400 per day: beach resort, restaurants, rental car
- about $600+ per day: luxury resort, activities, shopping
