Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is very close to the city
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is very close to the city. According to our Da Nang guide, downtown and My Khe Beach are about 10-20 minutes away by car. Getting out of the airport is simple, with three options: a car booked through a ride-hailing app, a metered taxi from the airport rank, or, if you are staying in Hoi An, a car straight to Hoi An.
Below we give each option's time and fare exactly as our guide lists them, how to reach each hotel area and what to sort out on arrival day. Before you fly, check that the airport on your ticket is Da Nang International Airport (DAD).
To downtown or My Khe Beach: ride-hailing app car
The simplest option is a car booked through a ride-hailing app. It takes about 10-20 minutes to downtown or My Khe Beach and costs about 80,000-150,000 VND. The fare is fixed in the app, so there is no haggling with the driver.
Our Da Nang guide also names ride-hailing apps as the easiest way around. Motorbikes are cheapest for short hops, but the guide suggests booking a car if you have family or luggage with you. Coming out of the airport with a suitcase, choose a car.

Metered taxi: official rank, meter on
If you prefer not to use an app, take a metered taxi from the airport taxi rank. It takes about 10-20 minutes to downtown or My Khe Beach and costs about 100,000-200,000 VND.
Choose a reputable, well-known taxi company and make sure the meter is on. Around Da Nang you will also see green electric taxis, which our guide describes as bookable in an app or hailed on the street, with transparent fares.
Straight to Hoi An: about 45-60 minutes
If you are staying in Hoi An, you can go there in one ride without stopping in Da Nang. Use a ride-hailing app or a hotel or pre-booked car; it takes about 45-60 minutes and costs about 350,000-500,000 VND.
Central Da Nang to Hoi An is about 45 minutes by car, so if you stay in Da Nang first and move to Hoi An later, ride-hailing apps, hotel shuttles and tour vehicles are common. To enjoy the lantern-lit Hoi An Old Town at a relaxed pace, consider spending a night or two in Hoi An.

Getting to each hotel area from the airport
Here are the five hotel areas from our Da Nang guide, sorted by access to the airport and the city. Our guide only gives airport travel times for downtown, My Khe Beach and Hoi An, so for the other areas we list only what the guide says about them.

- My Khe Beach (first visit, beach holiday): seafront hotels line the beach, close to both downtown and the airport; the easiest all-round choice. About 10-20 minutes from the airport
- Han River, downtown (value, city sights): walking distance to the Dragon Bridge, Han Market and the pink cathedral. About 10 minutes by car to the beach
- Non Nuoc Beach (southern resort strip): a quiet beach lined with large resorts, closer to Hoi An. You will need a car for city sightseeing
- Son Tra Peninsula (quiet luxury resorts): wrapped by mountains and sea, home to Linh Ung Pagoda. Less convenient for the city
- Around Hoi An Old Town (atmosphere, evening strolls): about 45-60 minutes from the airport by ride-hailing app or booked car, about 350,000-500,000 VND
Arrival-day checklist
In Da Nang most trips are by ride-hailing app or taxi. Check these points before you leave the airport and your first day will go smoothly.
- Check that the airport on your ticket is Da Nang International Airport (DAD)
- Ride-hailing apps set the fare in the app, so there is no haggling with street drivers
- For a metered taxi, use the official rank, pick a well-known company and check that the meter is on
- Markets, stalls and local eateries need cash; carry a mix of small notes rather than only large ones
- Don't drink tap water; buy bottled water. The sun is strong, so bring sunscreen and a hat
- Riding a motorbike yourself requires a licence recognized in Vietnam, and accidents without one may not be covered by travel insurance
- Cross streets slowly at a steady pace
- Entry and visa rules can change, so check official sources before you travel
