Takamatsu Airport is south of the city; the limousine bus takes you in

Takamatsu Airport (TAK) is the airport south of the city. To get into town, take the airport limousine bus to Takamatsu Station or downtown.

This post walks through the trip from landing to your neighborhood in detail. It also covers arriving at Okayama Airport (OKJ) or Kansai Airport (KIX) instead. Check which airport is on your ticket first.

Takamatsu Airport → Takamatsu Station: limousine bus, about 45 min

Airport limousine buses run to Takamatsu Station and downtown. The ride to Takamatsu Station takes about 45 minutes and costs about ¥1,000.

Check the official information before you go for the boarding point, timetable, stops along the way and how to pay.

Arriving at another airport: Okayama or Kansai

From Okayama Airport (OKJ), first take the airport bus to Okayama Station. From there, a rapid train across the Seto Ohashi Bridge takes you to Takamatsu Station. The whole trip takes about 1 hour 30 min to 2 hours and costs about ¥2,500-3,000.

The highway bus between Kansai Airport (KIX) and Takamatsu is currently suspended. Check official information for any restart; meanwhile, look into rail via Okayama. Travel time and fares depend on the route, so check the official information before you go.

After Takamatsu Station: choosing where to stay

Takamatsu Station sits beside the ferry terminal. Takamatsu Port is about 5-10 minutes' walk from JR Takamatsu Station, so if you plan island trips, the station and port area is the easiest base.

Kawaramachi, the downtown core, has long covered arcades, restaurants and izakaya. For a quieter stay, there is the area around Ritsurin Garden, south of downtown. The Kotoden railway links downtown with Ritsurin Garden, so it is a short ride into town.
